Vol. 22 No. 13

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - MAYO OLD AGE PENSIONER'S CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the reasons for the nonpayment of nine shillings per week old age pension which was allowed by the Lowpark Old Age Pension Sub-Committee to Mary Higgins, of Tavnyna, Charlestown, Co. Mayo, and if he is aware that the applicant has been in receipt of 3/- a week only for the last eighteen months.

The claimant was allowed an old age pension of 3/- a week by the Lowpark Pension Sub-Committee on the 4th of August, 1926. She has now raised a question for payment at a higher rate, and the Pension Officer has recommended a 6/- pension. The Pension Sub-Committee have, however, proposed to allow payment at the rate of 9/- a week and the matter is now under consideration on appeal. A decision will be given as soon as possible.
