Vol. 22 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SOLDIER'S ACCIDENTAL DEATH.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Mrs. Margaret Sutton, 2 Lamb's Court, James's Street, has received no compensation for the death of her son, Patrick Sutton, who was accidentally shot dead at Kilkenny Barracks on the 21st November, 1924; and whether he will see that her claim will receive sympathetic consideration.

I assume that the Deputy refers to a claim made in February, 1925, by Mrs. Margaret Sutton, of 13 St. Augustine Street, off Thomas Street, Dublin, in respect of the death of her son, Private John Hickson. The Army Pensions Acts do not provide for the payment of compensation to the mother of a deceased soldier whose death takes place as the result of a wound or injury received on or after the 1st October, 1924. I regret, therefore, that I am unable to consider the claim.
