Vol. 22 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COUNTY MAYO LAND (DISTRIBUTION).

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state what progress has been made in the negotiations for the acquisition of the lands of Carrowmore, Ballina, County Mayo (P.V. Jackson Estate), and whether he is aware that the landlord has re-let the land for grazing for the coming season.

The negotiations for the purchase of the lands referred to on the estate of P.V. Jackson, County Mayo, are not yet completed but the Land Commission are about to issue a proposal for the purchase of the untenanted lands of Carrowmore, Rathbaun and Cloonyvollow on the estate.

Pending the purchase of the lands by the Commissioners the owner is entitled to make such use as he likes of the land.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he proposes to take any steps for the acquisition and distribution amongst the uneconomic landholders in the district of the lands of Ballintubber, Killala, County Mayo, now advertised for sale by public auction, and formerly in the possession of the late W.O. Bourke, Esq.

The lands in question are subject to a Land Purchase Annuity. The Land Commission do not propose to take any action regarding them at present.
