Vol. 22 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BRADDELL ESTATE (THURLES).

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will take steps to acquire the Braddell Estate, New Hill, Two-Mile-Borris, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, consisting of 562 acres, all of which, except 40 acres, is freehold, for the purpose of enlarging the small holdings in that area; and whether he is aware that the owner of this estate has another large holding in Co. Cork, where he resides at present.

Proceedings were instituted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of the lands of Borris, Ballynamona and Newhill, containing respectively 44a. 0r. 10p., 1a. 2r. 30p., and 561a. 1r. 8p., on the estate of Mrs. Mary Bradell, and the lands were published in a Provisional List of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, would become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day. The owner lodged an objection to their acquisition, and her objection was heard by the Commissioners in Court and allowed.

The Land Commission are aware that the owner's husband has an estate in County Cork.
