Vol. 23 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DUTY YIELD FROM SELF-PROPELLED VEHICLES.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the amount of licence duty paid in the financial year 1927-28 on self-propelled vehicles (a) by county councils, and (b) by other local authorities; and if he can further state the amount paid by the County Council of County Dublin.

Letters were addressed on the 11th instant asking Local Taxation Officers to state the number and description of all mechanically propelled road vehicles the property of local authorities registered for the calendar year 1927 (which is the motor licensing year) together with the amount of motor licence duty paid in respect of each such vehicle. If a return based on the information supplied as a result of these letters will suffice for the Deputy's purposes, I will send him a copy as soon as the replies have been received.

May I state, for the Minister's information, that I do not want the figures for every individual local authority. I should like to get the total number and the number relating to the County Dublin. I do not want to put the Minister to unnecessary trouble.

As soon as I have the information, I will communicate with the Deputy, so that he may indicate the particulars which he requires.
