Vol. 23 No. 16

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - BRABAZON ESTATE (CO. MAYO).

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he is aware that the Brabazon Estate, Aghamore. County Mayo, was acquired by the Congested Districts Board in 1911; that the holdings of the tenants on that estate have not yet been vested; that the tenants are paying interest in lieu of rent since 1911; that the delay in vesting will result in the tenants having to pay rent for 84 years instead of 68½; and if he will state the cause of the delay in vesting, and what steps, if any, are being taken to have the estate vested.

This estate was vested in the late Congested Districts Board on 5th March, 1914. The holdings of 55 tenants have been vested in the purchasers, and the remaining holdings will be dealt with as soon as the Land Commission have completed their arrangements for the re-sale thereof.

The re-sale of this estate is being dealt with as quickly as circumstances permit.
