Vol. 26 No. 1

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CLAIM (KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the reasons for refusing to pay unemployment insurance benefit to Alfred Price, Lumville, Curragh Camp, Serial No. 5095 Newbridge Branch Office, who has twelve stamps to his credit; whether he is aware that the applicant was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers in an insurable occupation, at scraping and cleaning wood and ironwork for painters, cleaning sewers, workshops, etc., and whether he will authorise payment of benefit in the case.

Alfred Price, Lumville, Curragh Camp, made a claim to unemployment insurance benefit on 4th September, 1928, on which no benefit was payable for the reason that the claimant had no unexhausted contributions to his credit in the Unemployment Fund. Mr. Price was in employment with the Army Corps of Engineers at the Curragh on work which is held not to have been insurable under the Unemployment Insurance Acts. It appears that twelve contributions were paid in error in respect of that employment and it is competent for Mr. Price to make application for a refund of his share of those contributions.
