Vol. 27 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - FLOODING IN MAYO.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that at a recent meeting of the Mayo County Council a resolution was unanimously passed drawing attention to the widespread damage caused in Mayo by flooding, and the serious injury done to potato and other crops, and to the particularly bad season in Great Britain for migratory labourers, and whether, in view of these conditions, he will state if it is intended to initiate reproductive schemes which will give employment during the coming months.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. With regard to the second part, I would refer the Deputy to the replies given to questions addressed to me on this subject on the 10th, 17th and 24th ultimo.

I would like to ask the Minister whether the new Ministry that is to be set up in connection with the Gaeltacht would take up this work.

That question should be addressed to the Minister for Lands and Fisheries.

I put down this question to get some information. I am not at all satisfied with the reply, which is simply a refusal to answer the question, and I will be forced to raise the matter on the adjournment.
