The fifth and last instalment of the annual grant of £6,000 for the encouragement of tobacco cultivation which was placed at the disposal of the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction, Ireland, for the five years from 1909-10 to 1913-14 was voted in 1913-14. The unexpended balance of the grant was applied in its entirety by the Department, with the consent of the British Treasury, towards the payment of salary and expenses of the tobacco expert, so that no balance remains.
