Vol. 28 No. 3

Cork City Management Bill, 1928—From the Seanad.

The Dáil went into Committee to consider Seanad amendments.

It is my intention to recommend the acceptance of these four amendments, which are of a very minor nature. I do not think they will give rise to any discussion. Amendment No. 1 reads:

In Section 3, sub-section (4) the words "not being later than one month before the appointed day" deleted in lines 35-36.

This is simply to delete a provision by which a month must elapse before the setting up of the Corporation and the appointed day. It does away with an unnecessary month's delay in the new Corporation taking up business.

Question: "That the Committee agree with the Seanad amendment," put and agreed to.

Amendment 2 reads:

Section 8, sub-section (1). After the word "making" in line 38 the words "or revoking" inserted.

This is really a drafting amendment to make it clear that as well as dealing with matters of making regulations the Council may deal with matter revoking regulations.

Question: "That the Committee agree with the Seanad amendment," put and agreed to.

Amendment No. 3 reads:

Section 11, sub-section (2). After the word "Mayor" in line 33 the words "and every member of the Council" inserted.

This amendment simply proposes that the monthly statement of finance, as well as being sent to the Lord Mayor, will be sent to every member of the Council.

Question: "That the Committee agree with the Seanad amendment," put and agreed to.

Amendment No. 4 reads:

Section 14, sub-section (2). After the word "any" in line 58 the words "Act or any" inserted.

This is merely a drafting amendment also.

Question: "That the Committee agree with the Seanad amendment," put and agreed to.
The Dáil went out of Committee.
Agreement with amendments reported.
Question: "That the Dáil agree with the Committee in its report," agreed to.
Message to be sent to the Seanad accordingly.
