Vol. 28 No. 11

Central Fund Bill—Third and Final Stages.

The Dáil went into Committee.

If we are in the Committee Stage now, how are we to provide amendments?

Is there objection taken to the Committee Stage being taken now?

Undoubtedly. It would be a most extraordinary precedent to allow the Committee Stage to be taken now when there is no possible opportunity of providing amendments.

The Central Fund Bill follows on the Vote on Account. As I explained to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges, the Central Fund Bill provides an opportunity for debate, particularly on the Second Stage. Other stages are rarely debated, and amendments in Committee are almost impossible to frame.

We might try. We cannot try if there is no opportunity of doing so.

I understood it was agreed by the Committee on Procedure and Privileges that the Bill would be completed to-day.

If that is so, I withdraw my objection.

That is so. We agreed to take it in the one day.

Bill passed through Committee and reported without amendment.
Question—"That the Bill be received for final consideration"— put and agreed to.
Question—"That the Bill do now pass"—put and agreed to.
Bill certified by the Ceann Comhairle as a Money Bill.

I move the adjournment of the Dáil until Wednesday next.

Would the President tell us when the Housing Bill will be taken.

It will be first business on Wednesday.

The Dáil adjourned at 10.10 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
