Vol. 28 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glengariff-Adrigole Road.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is in a position to sympathetically consider the generally expressed local opinion that the Glengariff-Adrigole Road should be included in the National Road scheme, and put in a proper condition with the assistance of State funds, in order to relieve poverty in the district and to facilitate people residing on the Berehaven Peninsula, as well as tourists, to whom such facilities would be necessary.

No additions can be made to the roads included in the National Road scheme, in respect of which the total sum available has already been allocated to works in progress or completed. The road mentioned is a main road, towards the cost of the upkeep of which 30 per cent. is being contributed from the Road Fund, and its improvement is primarily a matter for the Cork County Council.
