Vol. 28 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glengariff-Adrigole Housing Conditions.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he has had before him any report on the housing conditions in the Glengariff-Adrigole area, and whether he proposes to take action whereby a number of dwellinghouses in that area, now in a wretched condition, will be in some cases replaced by new dwellings, the erection of which would be assisted by State funds, and in other cases, whether the Land Commission will make small grants for reconstruction to any such houses which may be suitable for such reconstruction.

No report on the housing conditions generally in the Glengariff-Adrigole area has been recently obtained by the Land Commission, but reports in the cases of individual applications for assistance in the erection of houses and repair of existing houses have been dealt with and grants and advances made.

I take it that this whole question is before the Committee dealing with this matter—the Committee set up as a result of the operations of the Gaeltacht Commission?

Yes, it is to be considered, of course.
