Vol. 29 No. 16

Questions on the Adjournment.

I beg to give notice that I will raise on the adjournment the subject matter of question No. 17 on last Wednesday's Order Paper.

We have five Deputies each of whom desires to raise a question on the adjournment this evening. Deputy Ward gave notice of a question last week, but on Wednesday the House divided at 10.30 p.m., and on Thursday we took two divisions at 10.30, so that he did not raise it on either occasion. I think Deputy Ward's question should be taken to-night. Deputy Corry desires to raise the question of de-rating. I suggest it is altogether too large a subject to be taken in a reasonable way on the adjournment, and that he should find some other way of raising it.

If the Minister would give us a day to discuss the question, I would be very glad. I think it would be more benefit than any of the Ku Klux Klan Bills we were discussing two or three days last week. This question affects practically the existence of the farming community.

The matter can be debated on the Finance Bill, in any event. With regard to the other questions, I will take Deputy Ward's question this evening and we will try to make some arrangement about the other matter before to-morrow.
