asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state if the Board of Works intends to carry out the drainage of the Ballysallagh River, Co. Donegal, under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1925, and, if not, what steps, if any, they propose to take in the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Donegal River.
The Commissioners of Public Works have rejected the petition presented to them under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1925, in respect of the Ballaghsallagh Burn proposed Drainage District inasmuch as the estimated cost of the necessary works is less than £1,000 and the scheme is, therefore, too small to be economically carried out under the Act of 1925. It is open to the occupiers, if they so desire, to present a fresh petition under the Arterial Drainage (Minor Schemes) Act, 1928, to have the works carried out by the County Council.
