Dáil Éireann díospóireacht -

Vol. 32 No. 2

Dublin City and County (Relief of the Poor) Bill, 1929—Second Stage (Postponed).

In connection with this Bill, there is no motion made.

Does that mean that the Bill is dropped?

Yes, except that under the Standing Order the leave of the Dáil may be granted, on the motion of any Deputy, for Its revival.

Could this Bill not be postponed? We have not yet seen the copy of the Bill which the Minister for Local Government is going to introduce in its stead, and therefore we do not want this Bill to lapse. Could not this Bill be postponed for, say, a week, or until such time as we see the other Bill?

The Standing Order is peculiarly framed, but I think it is possible to do what the Deputy suggests—that is to adjourn the consideration of the Bill and fix another day. Could the Bill be taken this day fortnight?

Agreed.

Second reading postponed to Thursday, 7th November.
