Vol. 33 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glantane (Co. Cork) Gárda Barracks.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a labourer's cottage has been taken over by the Gárda Síochána and used as a barrack in Glantane, Mallow, County Cork; if the cottage was taken over by force, and to whom is the rent paid.

The premises at present occupied by the Gárda Síochána at Glentane were originally acquired under the Civic Guard (Acquisition of Premises) Act, 1923. Subsequent to occupation, as a result of negotiations with Mrs. Nano Mullane, a formal agreement was arrived at whereby we obtained a monthly tenancy of the premises at £2 3s. 4d. per month inclusive of rates and maintenance. Rent at this rate was paid to Mrs. Nano Mullane until we learnt of her death, since when payment has been made to Mr. Cornelius Mullane of Kilpadder, Mallow, the person who we are advised is entitled to receive the rent of the premises.
