asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he will state (a) the area and the quantity of mature timber felled in the State forests during the year ended 31st December, 1929; (b) the proportions of the trees felled which were sold standing, in the round, and sawn; and (c) the amount realised for the sale of the different quantities.
Written Answer. - Felling of Mature Timber in State Forests.
The following are the particulars asked for:—(a) 30 acres, 66,000 cubic feet approximately; (b) approximately 16,000 cubic feet were sold standing, or in the round, the balance being sawn up in the Department's mills; (c) the amount realised for the timber sold standing or in the round was £282, while £1,817 was realised for sawn timber sold. In addition, a sum of £544 was obtained during the year from the sale of windfalls, odd trees, thinnings, scrub, etc.
