Vol. 34 No. 6

Committee of Public Accounts.

I move:

"Go ndintar, do réir Bhuan-Ordú a 109, Rogha-Choiste dá ngairmfar ‘An Coiste um Chuntaisí Puiblí' do cheapa; agus gurb é an Coiste Roghnathóireachta a ainmneoidh baill an Choiste;

"Go mbeidh sé de chomhacht ag an gCoiste fios do chur ar dhaoine, ar pháipéirí agus ar bhreacacháin.

"That in accordance with Standing Order No. 109 a Select Committee to be designated ‘The Committee of Public Accounts' be appointed; and that the members of the Committee be nominated by the Committee of Selection;

"That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers and records."

Ordered accordingly.

Mr. Doyle

I move, on behalf of Deputy Duggan:

"Go ndintar na Cuntaisí Leithreasa maille le Tuarasgabháil an Ard-Scrúdóra in aghaidh na bliana dar chríoch 31adh Márta, 1929, do chur chun an Choiste um Chuntaisí Puiblí chun scrúdú agus tuairisciú do dhéanamh uirthe.

"That the Appropriation Accounts together with the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor-General for the year ended 31st March, 1929, be referred to the Committee of Public Accounts for examination and report."

Ordered accordingly.

Arising out of the last motion, I asked the President some time ago to give a day for a discussion on the Report of the Public Accounts Committee. He promised to give me an answer within a fortnight. Is the President yet in a position to fix a day?

The Deputy, I have no doubt, realises the fact that this is a new Government.

There may be another one before this is discussed.

I would not be in a position to answer Deputy MacEntee until after the discussion on the Budget. Possibly when we come to the Second Reading of the Finance Bill I will be able to give him an answer, but up to that time there will be no hope of giving any day for the discussion he refers to.
