Vol. 34 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Monasterevan Home Assistance Officer.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that the work of the Monasterevan Home Assistance District is being carried on for the last six months by the Home Assistance Officer of the Athy district, which is one of the largest in the county; that it is not possible for one officer to cope with the work of both districts; and whether in view of great hardships thus inflicted on the poor of the Monastereven district, he will urge the Kildare Board of Health to proceed immediately with the appointment of a local officer.

The Assistance Officer for Athy appears to have been acting in Monasterevan since December, 1929. The district appears to be unduly large for one officer. The Kildare Board of Health recently submitted a proposal for the re-arrangement of these assistance districts. As soon as a decision has been arrived at the representations made by the Deputy will receive consideration.
