Vol. 39 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Donegal Marine Works.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he had received representations urging the necessity for improving a number of existing boat slips damaged by storms, and the erection of landing stages for fishermen along the South-west coast of Donegal, from Aranmore to Ballyshannon; whether he had received reports from the Department inspectors on these works, and could he state where and when the proposed improvements would be carried out.

I have received representations regarding the need for providing small landing places and improving existing slips in the district referred to, and I have obtained reports on the work required to be done. The whole question of landing facilities on the coast of the Gaeltacht is at present under examination by a subcommittee of the Coiste na Gaeltachta, and I must await the sub-committee's report before I can make any statement as to the carrying out of the works asked for.
