asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that in past years the Boards of Guardians and subsequently the Boards of Health, purchased plots of ground for the purpose of building labourers' cottages; that in many cases owing to high rates of interest, etc., the different boards did not proceed to erect the cottages, and that failure to erect cottages, within a certain number of years after completing the purchase of plots has created the situation that the landlord can regain the plot by refunding the purchase money, and if he will now give an assurance that legislation will be immediately introduced safeguarding these plots for future building purposes.
