Vol. 40 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase Scheme for Labourers' Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware of the general demand being made by cottage tenants for a purchase scheme for labourers' cottages or at least for an enquiry into the advisability of such a scheme; if he is aware that the General Council of County Councils recently passed a motion in favour of such action, and if he will consider having a committee at once appointed to inquire into all the relevant particulars and report thereon.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Deputy Morrissey's question on this subject on the 11th March, 1931. I have nothing to add to that reply.

In view of the attitude taken up by the General Council of County Councils will the Minister say when he will be in a position to appoint a committee?

I do not think the General Council of County Councils have had anything to add to what they said before on this subject. The matter has been fully investigated by the different Boards of Health.
