Vol. 41 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Levy on Dairy Cows.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that when the levy of £3 per dairy cow was imposed by the Dairy Disposals Board the price of milk was 33? per cent. higher, and the prices of other produce 50 per cent. higher; and whether in view of this and owing to the present depressed condition of agriculture the Minister will take steps to have the levy referred to reduced to £1 per cow.

I have under consideration representations which have been made to me in the matter referred to; but I am not yet in a position to make any statement on the subject.

Can the Minister give the date on which he will give a reply?

The Minister for Agriculture is in the Seanad and I am not in a position to say when he is likely to be able to make a statement on the matter.
