Vol. 41 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Sligo Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the cause of the delay in dividing the McKim and the Heather estates, Coolaney, Co. Sligo.

The schemes for the division of the lands on the McKim and Heather estates have been settled and are ready to be put into operation. The Land Commission have, however, been unable as yet to obtain clear possession of the lands from the owners.

Can the Minister say if the Land Commission applied to the judge for orders for possession in these cases?

The Land Commission have been in communication with the solicitors for the owners, and I think definite instructions have been given to take up possession of the lands with the least possible delay.

Could the Minister say if the Land Commission was in communication with the solicitors in both cases?

With regard to the Heather estate, some difficulty has arisen in respect to a person who is in possession named McGuinness, and in that case they are in communication with the solicitors. In the other case I think they are in communication with the widow.
