Vol. 43 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Hollymount and Lehinch Demesnes.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will now state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Irish Land Commission to divide the lands on the Hollymount and Lehinch Demesnes, which were acquired for the relief of congestion over two years ago.

As the Deputy has already been informed a scheme for the division of the lands of Hollymount Demesne and Lehinch Demesne on the estate of Patrick McCartan is in course of preparation and is being completed as rapidly as possible.

Is the Minister aware that the lands have been taken over by the Land Commission for the past two years and that the first thing the Fianna Fáil Government did when they got into power was to put McCartan back into the lands again and give them over to him?

McCartan has not been put back. A stockman is operating the lands at present.

Yes, the man employed by Mr. McCartan is operating the lands.

That may be; I am not responsible for the two years' delay.
