Vol. 43 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Value of Exports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, for the last twelve month period for which the figures are available, the value of the exports (not including re-exports) from the Saorstát to Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and also the value of the exports (not including re-exports) from Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Saorstát.

Mr. Connolly (for the Minister for Industry and Commerce)

The value of the exports (not including re-exports) from the Saorstát to Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the twelve months June, 1931, to May, 1932, inclusive, was £32,826,840, and the value of the exports (not including re-exports) from Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Saorstát in the calendar year 1931, the latest twelve months for which the figures have been published in the Trade and Navigation Accounts of the United Kingdom, was £30,413,960.

Has the Minister the figures for the first items in the question for the period corresponding to that which he has given for the second part of the question?

Mr. Connolly

At the moment these are the only figures which I have got. If the Deputy analyses the questions he will find that they cover the point raised.

Is it possible to get the trade figures for exports from the Saorstát for the calendar year 1931— the period for which the figures have been collected relating to the imports from Great Britain for the second part of the year?

Mr. Connolly

It is quite possible if we had notice of it.
