Vol. 45 No. 6

Trade Agreement between the Irish Free State and Dominion of Canada. - Electoral (Registration Appeals) Bill, 1932—Committee.

Section 1 agreed to.
SECTION 2

I move:— amendment 1:—

Before sub-section (2), to insert a new sub-section as follows:—

(2) The said Section 16, in its application to the registration of Local Government electors pursuant to the Local Government Electors Registration Act, 1924 (No. 7 of 1924), shall have effect, subject to the provisions of this Act.

Certain provisions of the Electoral Act, 1923, including Section 16 thereof was applied by the Local Government Electors Registration Act, 1924, to the registration of Local Government electors. This had the effect of preserving the right of appeal to revising barristers in Dublin in the case of registration for Local Government elections also. The amendment is being introduced in order to remove a doubt as to whether the repeal of the proviso to Section 16 of the Act of 1923 repeals that proviso as applied to the registration of Local Government electors in the Act of 1924.

Amendment put and agreed to.
Section 2, as amended, agreed to.
Sections 3 and 4 agreed to.
Schedule agreed to.
Bill reported, with one amendment.
Agreed: That the remaining Stages of the Bill be taken now.
