Vol. 47 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Excess Profits Duty, 1932-3.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that in the Estimates of Receipts and Expenditure for the year ending 31st March, 1934 (P. No. 940), the revenue derived from Excess Profits Duty for the year 1932-1933 is given as £113,000, while in his Budget statement recorded in the Official Debates, Vol. 47, No. 3, Col. 738, the revenue derived from Excess Profits Duty is given as £116,000, and to ask if he will give the correct figure.

I propose to take Nos. 6, 7 and 8 together. The figure of receipts given in the White Paper of the Estimates of Receipts and Expenditure refers to the amount of tax paid into the Exchequer within the financial year in question. The figures that I gave in my Budget speech referred to the actual collection of the tax for the financial year. If the Deputy will refer to Account No. 2 in the Finance Accounts he will see the relation of these figures to each other.
