Vol. 48 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killybegs Unemployment Claim.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment benefit is being withheld from Patrick Carr, Stragar, Killybegs, County Donegal.

Patrick Carr of Stragar, Killybegs, County Donegal, became an insured contributor for the first time on the 12th October, 1932, and since then only 12 contributions have been paid for him. A claim to unemployment benefit which he made on the 1st May, 1933, was disallowed by the Insurance Officer on the ground that the claimant was not unemployed and that, therefore, he failed to satisfy one of the statutory conditions for the receipt of unemployment benefit. From this decision, the claimant appealed to the Court of Referees and, after considering the case, the Court agreed with the decision of the Insurance Officer disallowing the claim. The Insurance Officer agreed with the recommendation of the Court and, in the circumstances, benefit is not payable on the claim.
