Vol. 49 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cost of Birth Certificates in Old Age Pension Cases.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if, having regard to the fact that all applications for old age pensions lodged from January, 1934, will have to be supported by certificates of birth supplied through the Registrar-General's Department, he will consider arranging with the Registrar-General that all such certificates will be issued by superintendent registrars at a fee of 1/- each as in the cases where such certificates are required under the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920.

Legislation would be necessary to effect any reduction in the fees referred to by the Deputy. If a suitable opportunity for legislation of a general nature becomes available I will have the point fully considered.
