Vol. 49 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lime for Farmers in County Cork.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the Department has had under consideration any proposals for the supplying of lime to farmers in the Gaeltacht area of Ballyvourney, Ballingeary, and Reananaree, County Cork, and if so, if he will state whether it is intended to supply lime to the farmers in this district at a price of 2/- per barrel delivered.

I have under consideration the question of assisting farmers, generally, to obtain supplies of lime at reduced rates.

The Cork Committee of Agriculture, in any event, have in operation a scheme of subsidies to owners of limekilns who are prepared to supply lime at an economical price to farmers in County Cork.

I should like to ask the Minister if there is special treatment for this part of the Gaeltacht? It has been circulated there that lime is available at 2/- per barrel.

The Cork Committee of Agriculture have in operation a scheme of subsidies for the owners of lime-kilns who are prepared to supply lime at an economic price to farmers.
