Vol. 49 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lahinch Promenade.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received a copy of a resolution passed recently by the Clare County Council requesting a grant of £11,000 for the purpose of providing and erecting suitable sea defences to the front of the existing structure at Lahinch Promenade, and for extending the promenade; and whether in view of the large amount of money expended on the upkeep of this promenade by the county council for the past 40 years he will send an engineer from his Department to investigate the matter, and make the grant requested available to the county council.

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the latter part, there are no funds available out of which the amount applied for could be granted for the construction of the proposed works.

Mr. Burke

In view of all the promises made during the recent election, will the Executive Council grant anything to the President's constituency?
