Vol. 50 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Firearms Licence.

asked the Minister for Justice whether the licence held by Mr. Thomas Johnston, 7 Knox Street, Ballyhaunis, enabling him to deal in firearms and ammunition has been revoked, and, if so, what were the reasons for taking this step.

Mr. Johnston's name was removed from the register of firearms dealers on the ground specified in paragraph (c) of sub-section (2) of Section 11 of the Firearms Act, 1925, namely that the Minister for Justice was satisfied that this gentleman could not any longer be permitted to carry on that business without danger to the public safety or to the peace.

Were there any complaints by the Guards as to the way in which Mr. Johnston carried on his business?

If the Deputy puts down a question to that effect he will get an answer.

A civil answer?

A civil answer.

It is comprised in this question which asks what were the reasons. I ask if any complaints have been made by the Guards.

The reason was given to the Deputy, "that the Minister for Justice was satisfied that this gentleman could not any longer be permitted to carry on that business without danger to the public safety or to the peace."

We will not be told the grounds?
