Vol. 52 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drumnacross Holding (Longford).

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the circumstances under which the holding of Mr. McDowell, Drumnacross, County Longford, was acquired by the Land Commission; (b) if provisional purchase agreements have been signed by the allottees; and (c) if the allottees expressed satisfaction or dissatisfaction at the time of signing the said provisional agreements.

The holding referred to was vested in Alexander McDowell on the 30th March, 1922, but, as the due instalments of the land purchase annuity charged thereon were not paid and the lands were left derelict, the Land Commission instituted proceedings for their acquisition under the Land Act, 1923, from the Official Assignee in Bankruptcy. Possession of the lands was taken on the 4th of April, 1934, and agreements to purchase were signed by the allottees on the same date. The Land Commission have no information as to any expression of opinion by the allottees in regard to their agreements.
