Vol. 56 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Cork Cottage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what is the cause of the delay in proceeding with the Cottage Scheme for 1933 adopted by the Cork County Board of Health; and if he is aware that applicants appeared before the Local Government Department Inspector about twelve months ago in connection with this Scheme.

There has been no avoidable delay in dealing with the Scheme put forward by the Cork Board of Public Health for the provision of labourers' cottages. The Board made seventeen Orders for the compulsory acquisition of sites for the building of 771 cottages. Public local inquiries were held in September and October last into all the Orders, and my decision with regard to eleven of these Orders, comprising all sites in the South and West Cork areas, has already been conveyed to the Board. The inspection of the sites in the North Cork area has been made, and the Inspector is at present preparing his report. When the report has been received every effort will be made to expedite confirmation of the remaining six Orders.
