Vol. 58 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sheriff's Seizures in County Cork.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that 24 cattle, one motor-car, two four-prong forks, and other articles were recently seized by the sheriff, in respect of non-payment of land annuities, from Mr. Michael Twomey, Woodfield, Coachford; and if he will state whether he issued a warrant for seizure on these grounds; and, if so, if he will state the total amount of the land annuity payments outstanding from Mr. Twomey, the period in respect of which these payments are outstanding, the total amount received by the sheriff as a result of the sale, the amount which has been put to Mr. Twomey's credit with the Land Commission, and the manner in which the other moneys received as a result of the sale have been expended, and the total amount, if any, still due to the Land Commission by Mr. Twomey.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that 16 cattle were recently seized by the sheriff, in respect of non-payment of land annuities, from Mr. Jeremiah O'Connor, Dunkereen, Upton; and if he will state whether he issued a warrant for seizure on these grounds; and, if so, if he will state the total amount of the land annuity payments outstanding from Mr. O'Connor, the period in respect of which these payments are outstanding, the total amount received by the sheriff as a result of the sale, the amount which has been put to Mr. O'Connor's credit with the Land Commission, and the manner in which the other moneys received as a result of the sale have been expended, and the total amount, if any, still due to the Land Commission by Mr. O'Connor.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that 19 cattle and one motor car were recently seized by the sheriff, in respect of non-payment of land annuities, from Mr. Fitzpatrick, Cooniney, Charleville, and if he will state whether he issued a warrant for seizure on these grounds; and, if so, if he will state the total amount of the land annuity payments outstanding from Mr. Fitzpatrick, the period in respect of which these payments are outstanding, the total amount received by the sheriff as a result of the sale, the amount which has been put to Mr. Fitzpatrick's credit with the Land Commission, and the manner in which the other moneys received as a result of the sale have been expended, and the total amount, if any, still due to the Land Commission by Mr. Fitzpatrick.

I propose to take Deputy O'Leary's three questions together.

Warrants under Section 28 of the Land Act, 1933, were issued by the Land Commission against Michael Twomey, Jeremiah O'Connor and David Fitzpatrick for recovery of the sums of £46 5s., £38 0s. 9d., and £44 17s. 6d. respectively representing in each case the aggregate of three half yearly instalments of land purchase annuities. The Land Commission have not yet received the sheriff's return to these warrants.
