Vol. 59 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widening West Clare Railway.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether a resolution has been received from the Clare County Council regarding the widening of the West Clare railway line between Ennis and Kilkee; and, if so, whether consideration has been given to the matter, and if he is in a position to state what financial aid will be given from State funds for this purpose.

A resolution of the Clare County Council dealing with the widening of the West and South Clare railways generally was received in the Department of the President, and the matter is at present the subject of correspondence between my Department and the Great Southern Railways Company.

Pending the outcome of that correspondence I am not in a position to say whether any assistance from State funds could justifiably be made available for this purpose.
