Vol. 59 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Dwellings Acquisition Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether in view of the fact that the Dublin Corporation has discontinued the making of loans under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Act to persons desiring to purchase their houses and that consequent on this action there is materially diminished honse-building in Dublin and an appreciable increase in the number of unemployed building workers, he will state what provisions, if any, he intends to make towards providing under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Act the necessary moneys to permit the work of house-building in Dublin to proceed to the extent demanded by the citizens.

This matter has been under consideration with the Corporation of Dublin, but I am not in a position at present to indicate what provision will be made.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say when he hopes to be in a position to communicate this information?

I could not give any indication of that kind.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary watch the answer which will be given to question No. 11 to-day and bear that in mind?
