Vol. 59 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bounty on Pickled Mackerel.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the bounty on pickled mackerel will apply to September caught fish even though such fish may not be exported till the following month; and if he will explain the delay in giving effect to the bounty, seeing that an application for the necessary forms made from Allihies, West Cork, on the 19th October last has not yet even been acknowledged.

Dr. Ryan

The bounty in question is applicable to all mackerel caught during the autumn season, 1935, provided it is sold for export to a market other than British under a firm sale contract bearing a date from 1st October to 1st December, 1935 (both days inclusive).

There was no avoidable delay in giving effect to the bounty. Forms and instructions for the guidance of applicants were issued as soon as possible after the regulations which govern the payment of the bounty had been framed and had received the approval of the Minister for Finance.
