Vol. 60 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mullingar Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether a housing scheme for the town of Mullingar prepared by the Mullingar Town Commissioners has been received in his Department for sanction; and, if so, if he will state if the necessary sanction has been given; and, if not, if he will state the cause of the delay, and if the matter will be expedited to enable this much-needed scheme to be proceeded with.

Proposals in connection with a scheme for the erection of 62 houses have been submitted to my Department by the Mullingar Town Commissioners. Sanction has not yet been given to the scheme. I am in communication with the commissioners as to the amendment of the plans. Arrangements are also being made for the holding of a public local inquiry into the commissioners' application for a loan and no unnecessary delay will take place in arriving at a decision in regard to the scheme.
