asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state in respect of each year subsequent to 1928 the total face value of the British silver coinage repatriated, the face value of the British coinage now in circulation in this country and the arrangements in force for its repatriation.

The following are the amount of British silver coin repatriated in each year subsequent to 1928 under the existing arrangement by the British Government:—

A further sum of £240,000 is held by the Currency Commission on behalf of the State and will be repatriated at the rate of £60,000 per annum, the arrangement terminating, as will be seen, in 1939. No information is available as to the face value of the British coinage now in circulation in this country and, subject to the existing arrangement outlined above, no arrangements are in force for its repatriation.
