Vol. 61 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pensions.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will consider the advisability of introducing such legislation as will enable claimants for old age pensions, in case that their claims are disallowed by the local pension sub-committees or rejected by the Local Government Department, to appeal to either the district justice or the Circuit Court judge of the area in which the claimants reside.

There does not appear to be any need for such further provision in regard to old age pensions appeals as is suggested by the Deputy. Old age pensions procedure is designed to be as inexpensive as possible to claimants.
