Vol. 63 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Estates in Broadford, County Clare.

Mr. Hogan

(Clare) asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the position regarding the division of the Going, Hickey and Phelps estates, in the Broadford district, County Clare; whether the Land Commission proposes to divide these estates within the current year, and whether strong local representations have been made to that Department in favour of the distribution of these lands.

Representations have been made to the Land Commission regarding the Going, Hickey and Phelps estates, in the Broadford district and the question of acquisition is under consideration, but at the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state if and when the lands may be acquired and divided.

Mr. Hogan

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say whether the question of the acquisition of these lands has been in contemplation for a long time, and can he tell the House why any decision has not been taken in the matter?

I am aware that the question of the acquisition of these lands has been in contemplation for some time, but I can assure the Deputy that every effort is being made.
