Vol. 64 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it has been brought under his notice that a public analyst has certified that the municipal water supply of the town of Wexford is unfit for drinking purposes, being infected with sewage and vegetable contamination, and what steps he proposes to take to ensure that this important town of over 12,000 inhabitants is given a safe supply of water.

It appears that a sample of water was found to be unfit for drinking for the reasons stated in the question. The matter has been examined by the County Medical Officer of Health and the officials of the corporation. It is understood that the water at the reservoir has been found to be contaminated and the corporation are taking steps to render the supply safe for use.
