Vol. 65 No. 8

Public Business. - Control of Imports (Amendment) Bill, 1936—Report.

I move amendment No. 1:—

In page 4, lines 13 and 14, Section 6 (1) (a), to delete the words "company incorporated under the laws of a country other than Saorstát Eireann which ' and substitute the words "person (not being a person to whom any of the preceding clauses of this paragraph applies) who".

The purpose of the amendment is to meet a point that was raised by Deputy Dockrell in Committee.

Amendment agreed to.

I move amendment No. 2:—

In page 4, Section 6, to add at the end of sub-section (1) a new paragraph as follows:—

"or

(f) that he is a person carrying on in Saorstát Eireann a manufacturing undertaking in connection with or as part of which it is, in the opinion of the Minister, necessary or usual to import goods of a description to which the relevant quota order applies".

This is a similar amendment. It is designed to meet a point intended to be covered by an amendment moved by Deputy Dockrell in Committee, which I accepted in principle. The Deputy withdrew his amendment on the understanding that I would introduce this one, which I am now doing.

Amendment agreed to.
Question proposed—"That the Bill, as amended, be received for final consideration"—put and agreed to.
Fifth Stage ordered for Wednesday, March 10th.
