Vol. 67 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Levies on Creamery and Non-Creamery Butter.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state for each year to date (a) the amounts of the levy per pound on creamery butter and non-creamery butter, respectively; (b) the amounts, respectively, realised by such levies for Saorstát Eireann; and (c) the amounts realised or estimated to have been realised by such levies in County Kerry.

Dr. Ryan

As the information asked for in (a) and (b) in the question comprises a great deal of tabular matter, I will have it circulated in the Official Report. The information necessary to deal with the third part of the question is not readily available, and the preparation of the required figures would entail a considerable amount of work. Moreover, even if the amount of levy on non-creamery butter paid by residents in County Kerry were ascertained, the information would be of little value, as there is no means of ascertaining the amount of levy appertaining to butter produced in County Kerry paid by merchants carrying on business outside that county.
