Vol. 67 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Leix Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the cause of the delay in dividing the O'Brien estate, Ballydavis, Portlaoighise, County Leix, and if a division scheme will be put into operation this year.

Mr. Boland

The estate to which the Deputy refers appears to comprise two holdings in the townland of Ballydavis in the occupation of the representatives of James O'Brien. Notices of intention to apply to the Appeal Tribunal for leave to resume one of these holdings, containing 5 acres and a portion containing 100a. lr. 21p. of the other holding, were served on the persons interested in the tenancy of the holdings, on 21st January, 1935. All the persons interested have not consented to resumption orders being made by the Appeal Tribunal, and it is not possible at present to state when the Land Commission will be in a position to make application to the Appeal Tribunal for such orders, or when the lands, if resumed, may be divided.
