Vol. 67 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Claims of Landless Men.

Mr. Hogan

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is prepared to consider the claims of landless men and farm workers in County Meath that 50 per cent. of new holdings created in County Meath will be made available for them, and that they will be afforded the same facilities to develop these holdings as have been given to the colonists.

Mr. Boland

When dividing untenanted lands, the Land Commission consider fully local needs, but no guarantee can be given as to the proportion of new holdings that may be allotted to local applicants. New holdings provided for persons living in the neighbourhood of the lands are equipped, where necessary, with buildings, but it is not proposed to give grants for stock and implements.
