Vol. 67 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will supply the names, addresses and amounts awarded to persons in County Donegal under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934.

The list is being prepared and will be forwarded to the Deputy in the course of a few days.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state in respect of each county separately, the number of applications for pensions under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, received up to date and the number of persons in each county, in each military rank, to whom pensions have been granted and the annual cost of such pensions.

The reply to the Deputy's question is being prepared and will be forwarded to him when ready.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he received an application for a military service pension from Mr. John Walshe, Carrowteige, Ballina, County Mayo, and if so, what is the reason for withholding this pension; whether he is aware that Mr. Walshe saw considerable service with the I.R.A. and was engaged in procuring and transporting arms to Ireland during the Black and Tan régime.

Mr. John Walshe, Carrowteige, Ballina, County Mayo, submitted a claim under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924. That claim was disallowed. He has lodged a claim under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, which has been referred to the referee for report.
